Lucrecia @ 2008-06-20 23:36:02
Why did most the comments disappear here?

LaurieSuncat @ 2008-06-21 10:23:04
Because everyone is expected to keep the discussion civil. The moment people start arguing in public, and throwing insults around, the comments will be removed. If it continues, the perpetrators will be dealt with more severely. Imagine that you're in a public art gallery--if you start having loud, acrimonious arguments, you will be asked to cut it out and maybe asked to leave.

And please don't start with "I didn't mean it that way." It's how it comes across on the board that counts.

Lucrecia @ 2008-06-21 16:51:23
Ah. I do apologize my comment was not well recieved. Let me try again with a bit more tact. This reminds me of Falk's work. When I said it just falls short I SHOULD have added that it does have potential. Just give it a bit more love and care. Work those shadows in a bit more smoothely and add more detail? Perhaps she is wearing a bit of dark lace. Perhaps my gamma is up a bit high on my computer but I see every dark smudge in this that perhaps the artist does not see due to different settings on their display.

hannahk51 @ 2008-06-24 17:36:02
Wow, i really like it ^^
lovely colours :)

goofydoodler @ 2008-06-28 13:55:38
I just got finished watching the animation of this and I must say that I'm blown away. I'll definitely want to use some of your techniques in my drawings.

Lysla-Chan @ 2008-06-28 15:14:01
woooah

Rawru @ 2008-07-03 21:21:09
I disagree, I think this is beautiful as it is. Not everything has to be high gloss smoothness and refined. It says what it wants to quietly and roughly.

Lallijandra @ 2008-07-06 23:46:30
I like the contrast.

MaddHattre @ 2008-08-14 16:45:46
This is amazing. The rose is gorgeous, vivid, and not overly detailed so as to cast a shadow over the rest of the painting. Great detail in the face which even reaches to her eyelashes.

Rage @ 2008-08-15 18:48:19
The details are splendid <3 I love the overall feel of this, brilliant job.

Hi! I'm back after what seems like years... and in a 3-star room, no less! I've never drawn in a 3-star room before, so this is kind of cool. Lol, I hope it's good enough...

Ehh... let's hope I never design clothes. That's one ugly-ass coat. -_-

i think its GOOD. I luv the clothes

You have 24 hours to complete it.

kerrplunk @ 2008-06-06 23:37:40
i love those eyes and lips. That flowing hair too.

livelylassha @ 2008-06-07 11:06:37
its gorgeouss. i love the details on the hair.

shugo381 @ 2008-06-07 16:36:03
At first when I was watching the animation I was like 'euh...not really 3 stars..' but by the end you had it fixed it up so much that it really represents an artistic side..
I also really like how her eyes are two different colors, brings a sense of rebellion to the picture in my opinion.. (I'm weird tho, so don't ask)

MirrePirreParon @ 2008-06-10 12:27:25
this is really beutiful! I love her coat.
The lips is mmm<3

popeyethecat @ 2008-06-14 06:57:57
Looking at your previous images here, you've come a long way. Lovely picture! I like how the tower fades away into the blue at the bottom

Malory @ 2008-06-25 10:50:51
Wow. Amazing. One of the most beautiful pictures I think I have ever seen on here. I Everything seems realistic, yet not, her hair looks so silky and smooth and beautiful, and she deserves to be on the runway. Beautiful complection, and I love the contrast between her pail skin and the dark-ish coat and deep pink/red lip gloss. And normally, I would agree with you when you say that coat is hideous, but on her, it just.... I don't know... It just... Fits. Very very very good work.

kuraigatsu @ 2008-06-26 13:06:11
I love this pic!Amazing!

goofydoodler @ 2008-06-28 13:45:43
I love the snowy look of the picture. It makes me miss snow even more. Big Ben is done very well.

Lallijandra @ 2008-07-06 23:46:51
I like the softness.

also, the hair is wonderful, and i love the way you did the snow.

Kaedi @ 2008-05-15 12:50:55
Oh, wow. I really like the style of this, and how there's so much foreground that there's not really a need for background.

I adore the eyes.

The screaming face is frighting. ._.' Are the silvery things metal spikes or feathers..? They're neat, whatever they are.

kungfu05 @ 2008-05-15 12:56:55
Oh my gosh this is just masterful. The colors and technique used just bring this to life. I love how you brought out so much detail with even the eyelashes. The highlights give the illusion of real tangible objects. This is just wonderful.

weisen1 @ 2008-05-15 22:24:58
Beautiful job.
I'm adoring the screaming ... tentacle ... thing.
The metals' glow is also very lovely and so attracts my eye.
What I like best of all though, is how soft her face is amongst the edgy chaos around her : )

Biders paley @ 2008-05-17 14:20:53
omg i love her face! O_o
im just aw strucken her eyes are the best i think.
it just makes me stare into them for a long time

I really adore your style. <3 Please draw more. n_n

Good god this is gorgeous. I love the vibrant colors and the sharp details placed on facial features-- especially eyes and lips. Wonderful job.

FiveFourG5 @ 2008-05-25 02:25:07
It's like she is a goddess of the sea who is at the same time tormented with an inner demon.(or outer demon)
She almost seems sad in those raging waves. I feel this piece is really beautiful.

Pink Strawberry @ 2008-05-28 08:47:30
I love this.I like how you made it realistic but then the small organic lines that scribble everywhere brings it down to being a picture. does that make sense? oh well its my favorite.

Malory @ 2008-05-29 12:12:09
Wow. Just Wow. It is so scratchy and chaotic, yet her face seems innocent and at peace. Her eyes are mesmerizing, and her lips are perfect. Some of the little things are what makes this a masterpiece. Like the golden-amber reflection from the ring/necklace/thing on her hand. And the background looks like lightning, emerging from the water. Truly wonderful!

mickey @ 2008-06-04 21:44:07
its both creepy and beatiful

kaeran @ 2008-06-05 20:40:04
Amazing...! Even the spit coming off the demon looks real! I love her eyes, and the metal claw-like apparatus.

OHH WOW!!!
This picture is amazing!!!!

Red Jello @ 2008-06-13 00:43:32

goofydoodler @ 2008-06-28 13:58:22
It's...so...pretty. Every single time I look at it, I find something else to look at. It's beautiful.

WOW. just... wow. this is incredible. her skin looks so soft, i want to touch it. that sounds so weird, hah. oh well.

this is amazing, so beautiful. i love the detail on the eyes and lips. very nice.

MaddHattre @ 2008-08-16 00:42:19
It took me a while to think of a suitable comment for this. I love the vivid colors, the screaming squid thing, and her gorgeous, soft face. The bright water in the background really brings out the brilliant hues in her eyes. It's creative, it's colorful, and you used the different drawing tools masterfully, I think.

Yep, well the songs were playing in my head so I had to draw him! ...and then I didn't like the empty background, so I had to draw her too ^__^;

I used four photos as reference, so it's not a perfect copy of anything ;)

(Edited on May 8, 2008, 6:25 am)

ShiningGolden @ 2008-05-11 23:53:21
Gorgeous work! Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett are instantly recognizable. I like the way you painted in grey tones, using just a touch of colour (similar to the style of the movie)... but I'm not so sure about the red box in the background (why draw the viewer's eye to it?) I love the way you did Sweeney's hair, and the hand holding the razor.

orangecow @ 2008-05-20 23:37:11
This is fairly good work but I don't feel like it's quite up to 3 stars...

Aimee-Oz @ 2008-05-21 14:22:49
I really like this, but I'm not sure the anatomy and body positioning are 3-star. She looks a little stiff, and Sweeney's head is kind of big. But I love their expressions, and his eyes. :)

GeoBio458 @ 2008-06-08 13:51:29
OMIGSH, YESSSS. :D I love this so much it's not even funny....xDD Lovin the razor and the BG and the textures!! <3 TOTAL. WIN.

Skitty @ 2008-08-12 11:55:50
At last, my arm is complete again!

I really like the texture of Sweeney's clothes. Be careful of where the mouths go on the faces... If you cover his mouth he looks exactly like Johnny Depp. Hee hee hee.

...or is he really dying from anorexia?? LOL

It's Wiggins from the Disney Pocahontas film...in a very much stylized form....

valisis @ 2008-04-18 02:57:12
I've never seen that movie, but I love this drawing! The hollowed-out/deep-set eyes look very victorian and um... romantic. he reminds me of a tragic heroine, haha. The skintones are fabulous, too.
I think some parts of the drawing look lineless, like the hair and the shirt, and getting rid of the rest of the lines (which are kind of scratchy) could make it look more polished.

Roulette-story @ 2008-04-18 03:19:04
I don't remember the film but it's a very nice drawing :)

mexequalxcara @ 2008-04-18 22:00:35

Gum Gum @ 2008-04-19 13:41:16
I recognized him from the front page also, and dare I say you've made him rather... handsome!

weisen1 @ 2008-04-19 22:56:46
I love you interpretation of Disney characters.
As mentioned above, certain areas could do without lines and there are areas that could use a little more refining.
The mouth is also very jarring against everything else, cause the rest of the lighting is soft and that one spot is very sharp.

Otherwise, I really adore this picture.... he's such a woman XD;;

SHikazumi @ 2008-04-19 22:57:17
I remember from the movie, its so cool the way you draw this <3 I love it dude

GeminiRyoko @ 2008-04-22 20:58:57
This is very good. I love the colors. I really love how you portray the Disney characters. Very nice.

shinko @ 2008-04-24 17:14:07
OMG! I watched that movie not too long ago for the first time in like 12 years! How funny.

This picture is so cool! His expression is so....(looking for the words but can't find them)

Ha! I love it :3

AliciaInWondrlnd @ 2008-04-26 20:17:07
I love this! I haven't seen that movie in ages, but you captured this little side character's personality so well!

Kells87 @ 2008-04-30 17:09:23
It looks reall cool. Like, Pocohontas: Lemony Snicket style. My favourite part is the bow...not sure why. I love it!

Bulleteye @ 2008-05-02 07:02:59
Maybe it IS the anorexia, maybe it's the arrow, WHO KNOWS???!!!

Pladpuss @ 2008-05-04 02:47:58
Oh my god! I loved him! I found him absolutley hilarious when I was little. Amazing job!

Dread.Mist @ 2008-05-17 18:04:39
Iiih. I love that movie. But his personality always irritated me. I dislike people who follow someone just because they're stronger than them, even thought they couldn't care less about other people. Mostly because I myself is such a bad judge of character, and I don't really have the courage to stand up to someone like that. Anyways, you really captured his personality well, and I love the folds on his clothes. :3

Lovely drawing, otherwise. I quite like the dark eyes.

the colors are awsome but the head looks a little weird. but the over painting is beautiful!

Excaliheart @ 2008-04-06 16:39:29
The painting of the two seems sad, but the background is contrasting and happy. Seems like they're in some sort of mermaid-induced turmoil. The child is so cute, looks just like mommy! My favorite part of this is the turtle, of course. He's just kinda floatin' by.. reminds me of me.

Bastet_eyez @ 2008-04-06 18:05:46
That is really beautiful. Very vivid colors and dramatic shading give it a nice mood to it

Aimee-Oz @ 2008-05-21 14:29:33
The only thing that bothers me is that the kid looks like she has a mustache! The hair on the mom could be a bit more watery, but I like it overall. Very colorful, great composition. :]

GeminiRyoko @ 2008-03-21 00:11:11
This is really nostalgic. It looks adventurous, and never ending. I love the greens.

flykkiller @ 2008-03-21 10:52:03
for practising there is training ground, not the main hall.

Taure @ 2008-03-21 11:06:36
Since when does practicing mean that the result is bad?

flykkiller @ 2008-03-22 03:50:29
sometimes it doesn't, but this is definietly piece of work, which doesn't fit main hall.

GeminiRyoko @ 2008-03-22 10:07:32
I think that Taure would know better than you whether or not something belongs in the mainhall, being that she was a mod here once :P. And isn't every picture someone draws practicing of some sort? I mean everyone practices to achieve a higher level than they already have, and if your skills are high enough, then sure its perfectly fine to practice a skill in the main hall. I see nothing wrong with that. And I love this piece to death :-3

Annibal @ 2008-03-22 19:47:27
I like it. I kinda wish there were more...definition? Not contrast, or saturation of color, but like...detail in the soil, a bit, or more of a gradual fade into the mist. But whatev, it makes me want to travel that road :D

eskimopie131 @ 2008-03-23 13:59:33
I love this piece! It's so soft, and inviting. It seems like an illustration in a children's fantasy story. My favorite part of it is the plants next to the tree on the far left. So pretty! I can imagine myself taking a stroll down this little path... :)

mingming @ 2008-03-23 16:53:03
OOoh me likey the shimmeryness of the grass. I think every piece of art doesn't need precise detail to be considered "good" I really love this...it's so dreamy...

Dreya @ 2008-03-26 09:35:14
It does feel like a dream. I realy want to walk down that path now. My favorite thing is that lovely little shrub on the right side of the road, it almost looks like an ashe juniper. Beautiful.

Prudence @ 2008-03-30 12:43:04
This is really very nice. I don't know why someone would say it doesn't fit in the Main Hall... I think it is more than worthy to be in here. I love the style in which you did the flora and fauna. Feels like an illustration out of a fantasy story book to me. Very Soft and magical. Kudos!

toosexyforthisusername @ 2008-04-09 20:46:59
wow, this is really beautiful! i love it!

Renor @ 2008-04-11 20:28:59
If the main hall "wasn't for practicing" I would like to see many images here gone. This is beautiful, and I agree nostalgic. Its very, or appears to be simple, but has a mysterious appearance to it.

Neo @ 2008-04-25 12:38:00
taure, you've done so much better than this before; i don't think this is up to par with your other works
i especially don't think this kind of piece is suited for the main hall either; it's very undefined and it looks careless.
but then again nobody even uses this website anymore so does it really matter

valisis @ 2008-05-10 18:46:53
I think there's an unmistakable similarity to a windows vista wallpaper, found here http://vistawallpapers.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/vista-wallpaper-forest.jpg
It's not my place to say whether or not this drawing belongs in the main hall, but I think credit for reference should always be given.

okami_ninja @ 2008-05-29 18:49:22
i love this! it reminds me of a peaceful fantasy land.

jiamiao @ 2008-02-08 22:09:33
Finished~ ... I think.

MirrePirreParon @ 2008-02-09 17:10:49
this is really beutiful! The only thing that bothers me is that one of the breasts are larger than the other. But otherwise than that it is really a beutiful piece of art!

Haura @ 2008-02-09 19:13:43
I really can't understand how pictures like this one can be done on oekaki, with so few tools o_o

It almost looks like a photograph. Awesome picture, indeed.

popeyethecat @ 2008-02-10 15:36:42
I saw this in the making, thought it looked promising. Very beautiful!

Tangerine @ 2008-02-11 23:18:16
Beautiful! The light is gorgeous.

chineseotaku @ 2008-02-16 18:26:24
Wow, this is really nice.I think maybe the mermaid's hands are too small but otherwise it's nice.

KLLRnikki @ 2008-02-17 12:44:39
this is so beautiful. i was going to say that the mermaids hand was small but then i read your comments and realized shes evaporating like you said... o.o very lovely. next time do animated so i can learn to color like you <33

ilikestrawberries @ 2008-02-17 17:11:30

Kala @ 2008-02-22 15:36:48
The style of it is gorgeous, and the colors are so peaceful. Flows nicely :)

mingming @ 2008-03-09 13:06:27

zorgmonkey @ 2008-03-16 15:16:10
woah, thats good o.o

Liora @ 2008-03-23 23:55:12
This is just too ridiculously cool.

Prudence @ 2008-03-30 12:44:48
This is very cool.. the picture totally relies on the shadows here. Is she turning into seafoam like in the "actual" little mermaid story? Luv this!

Draco91 @ 2008-04-18 16:25:51
I like stuff with high contrast lighting / shadows like this. Looks very dramatic. Great pic :)

git2 @ 2008-05-07 12:04:08
i think you really did a great job in the lighting, it's very hard (at least for me) to portray minimal lighting in dark environment. the picture has a dream-like quality with its subtle color palette and well-place highlights. awesome work!

kaeran @ 2008-06-05 20:41:43
I love the slight tension and slightly dark atmosphere.

Near Truths @ 2008-08-06 22:59:25
this is very cool

cami @ 2008-08-14 19:31:57
i absolutely love the lightning on this! the glowing fish are a nice touch too :D

her hands and arms are too small compared to her body, but since she is a mermaid, who cares!

This was just going to be the background at first, but then I got carried away...and...yeah.

My fingers really hurt. If this isn't up to par, I can work on it some more. I just need a break. x_x'

Cilia @ 2007-10-30 17:01:20
It's beautiful!
I especially like the details around it.. The eye at the bottom and the little wolf head on the lower right... <3

AF-Chan @ 2007-10-30 22:30:54
Ah, pretty indeed. = )
I love that eye too. XD

sakura06 @ 2007-10-31 08:04:12
its unreal, i love the girl in the clock looks very cool ^_^

weisen1 @ 2007-10-31 11:03:43
That's quite creative
The eye on the bottom is sorta distracting
But the way you set this up is really.. something to stare at

wow. gorgeous

Jackalpup @ 2007-11-12 20:22:08
the clock is backwards. it made me feel like i was stuck int he clock and she was looking in at me...but then the hands are on my side so is she stuck in the clock or am i?

this picture is really cool. very neat clock, i like the little pictures in the detail around the edges, especially the card pictures and the cross, they are hard to find in there. i like that.

roboticORANGE @ 2007-11-13 22:58:33
Wow, wonderful details. I love the intricacies of the clock hands and her reflection especially.

itsspacecakes @ 2007-11-15 23:15:22
i like the work on the girl behind the clock, its nice

Malory @ 2007-11-25 11:27:44
*gapes* Untill i watched the animation, I did not relize that there was a girl "trapped" inside. I love how you have an eye at the bottom, a dog/dragon thing to the lower right, a cross to the upper left, the eagle at the top, and the spades, diamonds, and cclubs to the upper right. the hands look so realistic, and i feel like it's real gold! Your amazing! Im going to find some other pictures you've drawn, because I really like your style.

Nerahla @ 2007-12-04 15:23:10
Very pretty concept, I like the idea behind it and the hands on the face of the clock are particularly well done.

garyhal @ 2007-12-07 21:33:26
I love it!! The eye at the bottom just sneaks in there.

EternalPain @ 2007-12-11 00:39:35
Oh wow... thats really well done. I like the color choices you made and how they reflect the image as a whole. Good job.

friedmaki @ 2007-12-23 23:28:03
The work is awesome! The colors are nice too!

bicozikan @ 2008-01-17 08:01:23
Quite a haunting image. Damn I love how you've used the white for a ghostly effect

articunocc @ 2008-01-28 20:39:17
wow, incredible stuff

LeyleyCrazySquirrelPup @ 2008-01-31 21:10:47
Woah, that is absolutely wonderful. You're very talented there. I love all the details and colors. I can see a person inside that clock. This picture is too amazing for words.

xxxcloverxxx @ 2008-02-04 08:58:14
whoa! thats insane!!
