Her gaze froze the moment. It froze the time. I want to see her again.

An alien girl, a lot of the details are missing currently.
But I gotta goto town. Gonna finish this later. Safety save.

Siku @ 2008-08-12 15:32:02
Well, attempted to create a mystic but beautiful alien. Didn't turn out exactly as I planned but... At least it's an attempt : P I might add some more shadows to make the light seem more realistic.

weisen1 @ 2008-08-14 03:54:39
Her face came out beautifully.
And her hair has such nice highlights, can really feel the curls.
Her gown looks a bit unfinished in comparison however, reworking it a bit more might give a better feeling of texture. : )

arezeus @ 2008-08-14 12:22:20
wow, this is gorgeous, I love her face and the colours

littlekleine @ 2008-08-15 16:13:54
I had to comment when I saw this on the main page

I love the way you've shadowed and contoured the face. And the texture of the hair adds a sense of depth and realism to her.

Hre dress is lovely, especially the way you've dotted the colours onto there. Again, its a good technique that added texture to the dress, making it seem like an actual fabric.

Her eyes creep me out a bit...

Good job =)

lavalizard @ 2008-08-15 19:10:23
Very enchanting picture. You did really good on the face/expression, and that hair is cool too.
Very awesome:-)

I adore the color scheme on this, and the lineless coloring style. I just can't seem to get it right. Delicious.

Akaryuterra @ 2007-11-28 08:20:15
This is Keys. He lives partway down a massive, rusty, machinery-clad tower that, the further you go down it the more insane you get. Keys is relatively sane, although he has an unhealthy fascination with clocks.

Hope this is sci-fi enough. It's more steampunk, but the origin of the story in in sci-fi. Also, omg, shi painter. Beautiful.

Dreya @ 2007-11-28 14:26:44
He's so cute! I love his hair, it looks so soft, and his glasses. Those are just too cool. Your coloring style is cool as well.

Person @ 2007-11-28 20:22:44
Is he from the golden compas? I remember a character in it who they found in a tower and he was cool I think it was book two?

Akaryuterra @ 2007-11-28 22:28:09
Haha, no, he's not. He's from a thing called Halfcocked, which nobody seems to know about. His Dark Materials was a great series, though. Northern Lights was my favourite.

ansuz @ 2007-11-30 11:02:39

His/her gun is absolutely scrumptious.. where can I get one?

GeminiRyoko @ 2007-11-24 17:47:02
You would be really good a making illustrations for books, I would totally look into that! I really like the feel of this, and the colors are so soft, dark, and dulled, which looks really nice!

Akaryuterra @ 2007-11-28 08:26:57
I love the colours and stylisation you've got going on here. But how did you get that textured effect? It's intriguing.

"This one is machine and nerve and has its mind concluded; this one is but flesh and faith and is the more deluded..."

Personally, I don't know what I'm doing drawing the gravemind, because I personally think he's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. XD I was just itching to see some halo fanart was all, and he seemed easier than my favorite characters. XD

Anyhow, Gravemind was really freaky. The flood levels are all very grotesque, and in halo 3, his shouting and that demonic laughed scared me badly. XD
And I always imagine that that brown mist that comes out of his mouth when he speaks smells terrible. XD

swiftspear86 @ 2007-10-14 11:52:51
YAY! Gravemind!THis is amazing..it looks so much like that scene. I really like the detail you added to everything...it is wonderful. Yeah...bit of a halo nerd geek here. I must say though, you have captured the scene with the detail it deserves.

Red Jello @ 2007-11-12 01:17:39

whoahs, that's so cool. I love the faded colors you used, it gives it such a story-book feel...what a neat picture. And omg, that little robot sitting in the corner is deadly cute *o*; I really love the blues you chose for the sky as well. This has such a dainty and lovely feel to it!

cab-rod @ 2007-09-22 16:29:52
Sincerily, it is one of the mostly unexpected images, refering to the theme of the oekaki board where it is posted. But at the same time fits quite well with the title " The Nebula" The illumnation, the roots of the trees, the galaxies in the background, all the picture is wonderful.

swiftspear86 @ 2007-10-14 11:55:06
Somehow, this reminds me of an epic journey being taken by two very lost Ents. Your finesse is exquisite. The colors are so alluring and you have kept a very mysterious air about this. It is beautiful...like a true space scape.

I do think I grow to like drawing like this, atleast then ya cant disapoint yourself in the end because it's not what ya wanted it to be when ya started ^_^

Oh well, enjoy anyway..

weisen1 @ 2007-01-27 21:27:38
that looks quite lovely
and yeah, doodles are the most satisfying
the stream of water(?) looks quite icy, really liking the mood of this picture

soy @ 2007-02-08 00:28:41
I'm tripping...this is beautiful. I do wonder about the stream though, it needs a little more light penetrating to make it more color-less and maybe more breaks and "streaming"

Volcana @ 2007-02-08 06:40:41
I did want to make the ice/glass more see-through afterwards, was thinking of some warzone things going on in there at night.

But shi-painter won't let me retouch this anymore ..

soy @ 2007-02-08 12:33:21
Is that normal for shi-painter to not allow retouching? Or did you just run out of your time limit? Well...no worries, I can see you redoing this image and going into details it has potential but up to you to give it what it needs (detail and more story)...I like the figure, it's wonderful however, if you're thinking of a mirror/glass look then you could redo the figure as if it were lying down on top of the glass and looking down through it (position the hand flat against the background to make it appear as if he/she is holding their weight up against the background glass) and I love that golden outfit that it has. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Anyway, my first submission into a two-star room. Hope you like it!
She's a recurring character of mine, so expect to see more of her. Next time I'll use watercolors again though - solids took me ages! On top of that I got sick yesterday - drawing with high fever isn't a good idea :/

The old style airplane in the background makes the technology implied in the little robot contrast nicely.

I think you should contrast the blue cloth a little more (I have a very bright screen and it's still hard to see) and maybe make the bird reflect in the metal dish ^^
Otherwise, no critique from my side!

I appreciate the use of kanji (yeah I know they're not used for the Japanese language but I don't have any other word that sounds better than "Chinese Characters") and how Aayla is wearing a less skimpy outfit. The water is rather convincing (and stylistically interesting too!).

To top it, I like Star Wars .___.;;;

Turning a human into a robot.? I don't know who all has read 1984 by George Orwell, but thats where I got the title "Double Think." This picture really has nothing to do with the book except for the fact that she is becoming a machine, and thats kinda what the minds of the people in 1984 were like, they were like machines following the totalitarin government, but they weren't turned into machiens literally like in this pic lol. Great book. C+C if you want.

This picture is really interesting!
We're doing the play 1984 at my school right now. I'm in it. If you read the book, my character is the embodiment of all the proles you meet, pretty much.
But this image is a good interpretation. I love the coloring style! And your choice in reading material! ^_^

*George Lucas voiceover*
Since the Evil Galactic Empire was originally envisioned as the "Space Nazis" We digitally exchanged the TIE fighters for Me 109s...

Silly idea, I know. I might do something about the background still
...

Great job $) And I bet Rebels were hit by surprise, too.
Nice to see your work again.

Cobald @ 2006-10-21 07:12:53
Thanks, Tish.
My original plan called for an inset with the incredulous face of the rebel pilot. Couldn't get myself to cover up part of the pic though.
Alright, touched up the background a little. think it looks a lot better that way. Too bad I forgot to sign it the second time around.
*shrugs*

Awesome idea. I'm always happy to see an x-wing, but the combination really is great. Very dynamic picture, both in style as in movement.

GeminiRyoko @ 2006-10-23 10:21:35
The ships are so smooh, wonderful angle. Great job

*rofl* Lovely picture of the X-Wing, too! (harbours a secret love for X-Wings and those that can draw them correctly)

lol, I thought the Fight would be in a place with air, it seems very cool Though!
I really cant immagine a dogfighter in the 40s actually shooting bullets into a space figher of a couple thousands of years later, i still cant believe that a 109 shot the Xwing, lol. Nice picture though
