All done! I fell in love with this model's hair... isn't it absurdly beautiful? Here's a link to the reference photo.

Very well done! I like the marble looking background and... VERY scarily the hair looks EXACTLY like mine... Wierd. I also need to compliment you on the hand... way better than I could EVER do. :)

k. i'm done with it now. i worked a lot on it to make up for how crappy my last picture was.

anyway it's a study on the female form :)

Darik @ 2008-11-18 21:24:29
that's really well done. Looks just like a real person from my perspective. I like how you shined the necklace too.

SilveR ShadoW @ 2008-11-19 05:33:46
Nice. It's a hard perspective to draw. The face looks a bit stretched on the left though (the right side of her face). Maybe something to pay attention to next time. :)

weisen1 @ 2008-11-19 10:47:10
Very nice, I like her mouth.
The nose might be a bit too angled for the angle of her pose though, do you have a ref?

MirrePirreParon @ 2008-11-21 06:28:10
really nice image, I love the green colours. Though her hair looks really scetchy, the strains tend to look a little too pixelated. A tip is to not set the opacity on 50 on watercolour (I guess you used watercolour of the hair?) set it to 45 or 40, then it wont turn out to pixelated :)

Africa @ 2008-11-24 17:20:25
This is a very beautiful picture. The shading is luch and the angle and subject matter are gorgeous. The nose does look off and the face somewhat stretched or skewed, but overall this is an ace oekaki!

cordat @ 2008-11-28 22:14:50
wow. i can't beleive so many awesome people commented my picture :).
i see what you all mean about the the angle of the face and nose. i had a bit of trouble lining it up corectly. as for the hair i was sorta going for that look to make it stick out a bit. but i guess it isn't that fitting with the overall softness. i got a lot of great tips that i will be sure to use in the next picture

I wanted to do something nice and found this wonderful reference with both interesting lightning and pose. So I just HAD to do it in oekaki.

Cloudy Crystals @ 2008-09-28 14:50:59
That's an amazingly interesting pose and lighting - drew me in from the front page. One comment is that her left thigh looks a bit awkward - I think that part of it is that it's contrasted a bit overmuch in such a way as to make it look kind of flattened, and part of is that it's not as blended as it could be.

Otherwise, amazing job on a challenging post. This is now one of my favourite study pictures. <3

kerrplunk @ 2008-10-01 03:18:52
! my gosh. though i do dislike looking at naked pictures (what would my parents say?!), this is too beautiful to not look at it.. <3<3<3

Jackalpup @ 2008-10-05 04:19:09
that's beautiful! you did such a good job! the hair and shading are amazing! the cloth is great! i really like the peice you picked out, it looks quite difficult to draw. kudos!

GeminiRyoko @ 2008-10-05 12:42:48
I love this, the shading is just stunning, and the pose is so ridiculously good. It looks like something you would see on Top Model.

ShiningGolden @ 2008-10-11 13:31:59
Oooh, I adore this! You're absolutely right about the pose and lighting, it makes for a really dynamic picture. Her proportions look good, and the shading is excellent - I love those luscious deep shadows.

weisen1 @ 2008-10-16 18:40:41
I wonder how I missed commenting on this.
I love the way you played with the shadows, and the diffused light looks great (especially on her coughbreastcough)

rune @ 2008-10-24 16:01:02
Very striking.
A pose like this is incredibly difficult to draw without something looking "wrong".
What you've done here is truly fantastic.

cindaa @ 2008-11-09 23:07:10

I looked through your pictures here in the Study room and i must say that you have improved tremendously. Theres still a bit that could be tweaked for this to be perfect (like the face, shoulder and the toes), but its still really good :)

Interesting style, I like the colourfulness. Credit to my density, I couldn't find the face till I realised he was wearing a hat <_<
It would be better to use a reference for the hand, the thumb looks too long and the little finger is a bit too floppy. The face is a bit small to crit on but seems to be in proportion. Keep going ^^

ShiningGolden @ 2008-05-23 23:12:33
Great work on those muscles! The raised arm looks a little weird, and is thinner than the lowered arm... but it's like that in the ref too ;) The shading is gorgeous, and the dragon is a nice touch.

male torsos... they're impossible D:

EDIT: I followed ShiningGolden's advice and moved up the image (to fill up the black space) and added some pants while doing it (not the best pants I've done but I guess it'll be fine)

(Edited on May 19, 2008, 3:34 am)

ShiningGolden @ 2008-05-17 03:58:18
No, not impossible ;) I like the anatomy and shading on this one, and the way you've incorporated in some green and yellow. I do find the composition troubling though... why cut off the head and arms and leave black space in the upper part of the canvas?

MirrePirreParon @ 2008-05-17 11:17:52
hmm you are right, it's a waste of space, I wished I could crop that away D:

Sing For Absolution @ 2008-01-25 00:20:47
Yeah you did the veins really nicely! I also like the way you did the jeans a lot, not sure why... they add something interesting to the pic =D and of course the background is great! simple yet still beautiful. great job on this

MirrePirreParon @ 2008-02-03 12:34:23
wow! I wished my boyfriend has that body (he is skinny like a stick-figure!) and I love the guys face. He looks a little shy being without his skirt ;D

weisen1 @ 2007-12-11 17:06:24
That's amazingly done
I'm especially liking her hand by her head and the back of her foot

Africa @ 2007-12-13 10:37:27
This is a really good piece of work! The greyscale is good, the anatomy and proportions re excellent....and the wrinkles in the fabric are great, although they look slightly unfinished, but they do the job. Really lovely work.

vantii @ 2008-01-07 00:29:29
I really love all of this and I can't believe I have a critique. Hopefully you don't mind... The area wher she is grabbing her foot, I think the fingers could use more dark definition there, and her eyes bother me for some reason... they seem kind of dead. :( But I love everything else, the pose and the fabric was done so well and the feet and breasts. Great job.

ShiningGolden @ 2008-01-10 00:19:19
Thanks for all of the supportive comments =D I appreciate your constructive crit, vantii, and I agree with you about her eyes... not sure how to go about fixing them, though, without moving away from realism...?

weisen1 @ 2007-11-23 10:26:23
I.. have no idea XDD;;
It still looks very lovely though
The lines in her back might be a bit sharp though, the muscles tend to look softer
And her hips (if it's a girl) look a tad small, they should be about the width of the shoulder or wider
I like the overall feel of this picture though, It all looks so soft and touchable, like something out of a silverscreen movie

bcfire @ 2007-12-02 05:15:14
Was it "As Good as it Gets" ? Where she's getting out of the tub and the gay artist tells her to hold that pose. (I think that was As Good as it Gets....)

zengmar @ 2008-07-12 01:03:25
It has a very good sensual feeling and the lighting is great. But from where the viewer's eye is there her hips/legs should be bigger.

Cristine @ 2009-07-03 21:09:26

The skin texture on this is amazing; my only real criticism is that in the reference, the weird part of her mouth is her cheekbone; it is subtle in the shading in the original and easy to miss, but how it is now almost makes her look like she has advanced syphillis.

Sabrine611 @ 2008-03-21 16:58:38
Love it! The only thing I think is a bit different is the breast size...this one is a bit bigger. But, hey! Nobodies perfect ^^

cindaa @ 2008-11-09 23:19:05
i really like how you did this, and the perspective is insanee, but i think you could work on the color choice for the shadow? i don't know but it seems a little off. maybe it's just me. but great job!

I wanted to do a soft back study... but it was her hair that drove me crazy! Maybe next time I'll do a hair study :)

I used this pic for the lighting/pose, but changed the hand because in the pic she's kissing it or something (!?)... and obviously the colors.

C&C please :)

The_Rocker_Artist @ 2007-06-19 20:56:16
Oh wow, that IS one dreamy back. It looks as if it were done with colored pencils and acrylics or something.

C'nC-wise, I love how you executed the lighting and anatomy, but the way the head seems uneven compared to the rest of the picture... particularly the hair. It's very scritchy and not as solid when you compare it to the back.

I do love this though. Keep up the fantastic work! :D

eponagirl @ 2007-06-22 02:00:13
Oh beautiful. The figure is amazing, and i love the colors :)

weisen1 @ 2007-06-27 17:45:13
I have to agree with rocker
The back looks so soft and supple, but the hair sorta detracts from the mood
It stand out too much, maybe if you tried to fade it in with a bigger brush, more watercolouresque?

ksyring1 @ 2007-06-30 16:01:27
I retouched this and tried to fix the hair... let me know if it looks better :)

thanks all for the c&c!

midori2tree @ 2008-06-27 20:47:00
This is really pretty, and the colors compliment it very nicely :]

siobhans.hot.hands @ 2009-07-30 15:38:41
This reminds me of French impressionists like Renoir or someone. I really like the colors.

Very nice.
There are some areas on her suit that seem unfinished, but the pose is really well done!

;)

ATHF @ 2007-03-19 15:33:59
the anatomy and pose look almost perfect, great job!

soy @ 2007-03-21 16:59:41
wow. thank you. i love life drawings.

i think the part that got my attention was the angle and length of her upper rib cage, her neck and her head...it should be lengthier and smaller. JUST A BIT, not too much, just the width of the neck needs a little bit thinning...but it looks great

TwilightButterflies @ 2008-11-15 01:16:19
this is very good, especially for such a short amount of time.

This one took me quite a while... can't feel my hand anymore...
i especially like how the right hand turned out.

weisen1 @ 2007-02-10 23:00:34
wow.. that's just so smooth
i like the hand very much too... and the hint at her ribcage

redsailor @ 2007-02-15 01:56:06
beautiful image! your shading is so smooth, and yet you haven't lost any sense of value or contrast. i'm really drawn to her hand and to her breasts, as they're both so beautifully rendered. the light at the top also seems to form a halo, giving her an ethereal quality. the figure's elongation and her stylized head reminds me of a picasso or figure study by schiele.

MPD @ 2007-02-16 21:00:07
This is very pretty! I love the shading and emotion in this picture a lot. i love the shape of her body too~

Malory @ 2007-11-27 22:24:42
Truly beautiful. One thing though.... The jaw seems very square and masculan. Along with the lips. The body seems very sleek and smooth, curvacious... Then you have the hard, square jaw and lips.

Aimee-Oz @ 2009-06-11 02:50:52
Wow. I really like this. The jaw to me gives it an art-deco edge, because the whole thing is so smooth and angular despite the curves. I like how the face makes it your own; combines an animator's edge with the realism of the body. Not to mention shading in a dried-out black and white piece is hard in itself. So nice work ;D

i always wanted to try this pose - but it kinda got twisted a little. haha.
i'm no good with hair, so i just didn't do it. i hope that's ok...

PeekaJinx @ 2007-01-29 17:03:56
this is a very hard pose to do. It looks very good. 2 things sort of bother me though. the right thigh seems a little short and her torso seems twisted too much.. I don't think both breasts should be forward like that. Then again.. it may just be me :] It looks good though. I like the her face and foot. and the idea is good.

weisen1 @ 2007-01-29 22:15:48
that's quite a difficult pose
the buttocks muscle don't seem to be reacting to it though
otherwise i think you did a fine job on this, besides a few scratchy lines here and there

well, i didn't realize that the tones would come out all smudgy, so now you have to sort of squint when you look at it. but that's okay, it makes the image interactive. i unfortunately lost the link to the reference photo.

PeekaJinx @ 2007-01-24 11:11:14
I really like your style and she shading is excellent! I think with all the texture and block shading it almost looks like something you could cross stitch...

weisen1 @ 2007-01-24 17:01:42
woah.. that is quite neat
love your use of tones.. it is superb :3

BluePiccolo @ 2007-01-24 20:04:42
This is really amazing. The colours are wonderful and I love that when you are looking at the thumbnail you can't tell that it's done with tones.

tiamat4eva @ 2007-01-26 14:44:22
whats really amazing is that you can distinctly tell what we're looking at and the thumbnail which gives no hint at all that you used tones.

chemicalheart @ 2007-03-17 22:22:30
woooooow. it's pretty.

jokergirl @ 2007-03-18 10:10:58
I really love the use of colors and tones in different patterns here - it has so many layers!
I would like the background to be a bit less sketchy personally, but the picture is still amazing.

;)

Lallijandra @ 2008-07-06 23:32:35
Love the tones!

siobhans.hot.hands @ 2009-07-30 15:42:45
This is so beautiful. The colors, shading and halftones look amazing. The anatomy looks spot on too. Great job!
